Brew the Perfect Sun Tea:

There's something magical about brewing sun tea, a refreshing and simple beverage that captures the essence of summer. Harnessing the power of the sun, this method produces a smooth and flavorful tea that's perfect for hot days. Here's how you can make your own sun tea and a few tips to enhance your brewing experience.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • A Clear Glass Jar: A 1-gallon jar works best, but any size will do. Make sure it's clean and has a lid.

  • Tea Bags: Use 4 to 6 tea bags for a gallon jar, or an equivalent amount of loose leaf tea or fresh herbs.

  • Fresh Water: Fill your jar with cold, filtered water.

  • Sunshine: Choose a spot outside where your jar will get direct sunlight for several hours.

How To Make Sun Tea

  • Place the tea in the jar and fill it with water, leaving a little space at the top.

  • Secure the lid and place it in a sunny spot.

  • Let the jar sit in direct sunlight for about 3 hours. The heat from the sun will slowly brew the tea.

  • Once the tea has reached your desired strength, remove the tea bags.

  • Chill the tea in the refrigerator. Serve it over ice with a slice of lemon or a sprig of mint for a refreshing twist. Sweeten as desired.

  • Sun tea should be consumed within a day or two and kept refrigerated to prevent the growth of bacteria.

Making sun tea is not just a method of brewing—it's a ritual that connects us to the natural rhythms of the sun and the earth, inviting us to slow down and savor the simple pleasures of life. Enjoy!
